How Long Do Reverse Osmosis Systems Last?
Reverse osmosis is a method to filter out contaminants from unfiltered water. This type of water purification process can significantly improve the water quality. Often used for both domestic and commercial applications, it can also be used for fishkeeping and window cleaning.
If you’re looking into purchasing your own reverse osmosis system, or you currently have one, read on to learn more about how long reverse osmosis systems last.
As you’re well aware, there are various filters and membranes that require frequent replacement. You can read our blog post on this here.
Let’s dive a little deeper into the longevity reverse osmosis systems.
So, How Long Do Reverse Osmosis Systems Last?
Typically, reverse osmosis systems will last for about 10 to 15 years. This is an estimated lifespan that assumes that you will keep up with the regular required maintenance that is inherent to using such systems. Filters tend to require replacement once to twice a year, whereas membranes can have a longer lifespan of up to 3 or 4 years.
However, it will all depend on the water conditions and quality and the amount of use the reverse osmosis system will get. Even with barely used RO systems, membranes will require replacing after a few years.
Maintaining Your RO System to Make it Last Longer
At Finerfilters, we stock various RO systems, including 3-stage, 4-stage, 5-stage and 6-stage systems. If you have a system that is slightly lacking due to low water pressure, we do stock a range of booster pumps and kits that can help push your reverse osmosis system to perform better.
Occasionally, these systems might need additional maintenance or repairs outside the standard filter and membrane replacements to ensure they last and do not require premature replacement. Maybe some tubing accidentally suffered some damage, or you need to upgrade or replace a water storage tank. Finerfilters have you covered. Shop our replacements and accessories to ensure your reverse osmosis system performs at the level you need it to.
