Finerfilters E-Chen Booster Pump Kit including Pump, Pressure Gauge and Pressure Switch
The booster pump kit by Finerfilters allows you to convert your unpumped domestic reverse osmosis system into an automated pumped system.
The high-pressure switch allows the pump to switch itself off once the storage tank is full. Without the high-pressure switch, the booster pump would need to be turned on/off manually.
NOTE: The pressure switch will only work with units that use a float valve (commonly used with aquarium RO systems) or water stored in a pressurised container (RO tank).
If you don't have either of these - the system will still work, however, you will still have to turn the pump on/off manually.
The high-pressure switch sits in line with the tubing to your tank and senses a build-up of pressure once the tank is full. The switch, which is married up to the pump via electrical connectors, switches off the pump once the pressure reaches over a certain point (pre-set at 40 PSI, but is adjustable if you would like to fine-tune this).
The bypass assembly allows you to change the output pressure on your booster pump.
Some pumps come with adjustable Allen screws that can reduce the pressure output of the pump if required.
However, this method of adjusting the pressure can sometimes be a pain, as you must awkwardly fine-tune the tiny Allen screw in the booster pump head with an Allen key.
With the bypass assembly, a 1/4" shut off valve is used to allow some of the water to skip the booster pump which will reduce the pressure output if it is too high.
You can also tune the pump output by hand if you use the 1/4" shut off valve.
The kit comes with all necessary fittings and installation instructions.
Important:
You must choose a booster pump capacity that corresponds to the membrane capacity you currently have installed.
If you pick a higher capacity this will exert excess pressure on your membrane and prevent it from working as efficiently as well as decrease the lifespan.
You can upgrade both simultaneously but be aware that you will also need to pick the correct flow restrictor for the membrane capacity you have chosen.
The booster pump requires a minimum incoming water pressure of 2 BAR / 29 PSI in order to operate. Lower pressures will damage the pump. Please check this before ordering.
