Which Fridge Filter?
How to find the right replacement filter for your fridge:
If you have a fridge with an internal filter - removing the cartridge (usually with a twist of the filter) in most cases will shut off the water and you will be able to safely remove it. This is the case for most fridges, however if you are unsure - please consult your fridge user guide for clarification.
If you have an external fridge filter, this should have been fitted with a shut off valve on the inlet side of the filter. Turn the shut off valve into the "off" position and have a bucket on hand to catch the excess water when you unplug the filter from the tubing. If you do not have a shut off valve installed, you should try to isolate the water supply from the source. Either by turning off the mains water to your house via the stop cock or any other means of shutting the water off at that outlet.
