11W UV System Quartz Sleeve Replacement

The water that passes through a UV system usually carries small amounts of sediment and minerals. Over time these contaminants will build up on the surface of the quartz sleeve that protects the UV lamp.

This build-up will eventually cloud the sleeve and block the UV light from penetrating the water, allowing microorganisms to pass by without being killed.

In order to keep the quartz sleeve clean and operating properly the glass must be cleaned regularly (at least once a year when the lamp is changed) however you may need to clean them more often depending on water quality.

It is important that this is done gently with running water and a soft cloth as sediment on the surface of the sleeve can scratch the quartz.

These scratches can refract the UV light and reduce performance. It is recommended that the sleeve be replaced at least every 2-3 years.
